The UK government's flagship Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) has been reformed in a bid to meet their 600,000 heat pump installations per year by 2028. They have removed the requirement to have cavity wall and loft insulation in order to qualify for the scheme.
This change is designed to speed up the roll-out of heat pumps since it reduces the cost to the householder of installing a heat pump. By scrapping the home insulation requirement the government are in effect letting householders decide how best to improve their home.
